The merging of urban radio stations KISS-FM and WBLS Thursday spelled the beginning of the end for KISS-FM. Listeners of WRKS, better known as 98.7 KISS-FM, were transitioned to
107.5 WBLS when the two stations began simulcasting at 10 a.m. Thursday.
A special tribute is planned this weekend prior to the station's
sign-off.
The stats for women, globally, regarding leadership and career leave much
to be desired. In fact, according to College Times, four in ten businesses
worldwide have no women in senior management. A growing program based in California targeting young women hopes to help change these stats.
While young voters turned out for the 2008 elections that catapulted
Barack Obama on to victory, according to studies the number of young
voters has since dropped. The League of Young Voters Education Fund, a non-profit organization
that works year-round to educate, inspire and activate young voters all
over the country through grassroots and online initiatives, hopes to get
those numbers back up by the next presidential election.
