When Nakia Stith took over her father's business, Top of the Clock, as
president and CEO, it wasn't easy. It took hard work and a new vision
to get the company out of the red and build it into a thriving firm
offering top-notch security and personal safety management to
corporations and banks. Here, Stith tells TNJ.com how she did it.
According to online research derived from the Nat'l Restaurant
Association, "30% of new restaurants fail in the first year, and of those
that survive, another 30% close in the next two years." But judging by
restaurateur Brad Johnson’s 30-plus year run in the business, there’s
hope yet. Here, we caught up with Johnson for a little Q&A about the ins and
outs of the restaurant business, running a restaurant in NY vs. LA, and
the infamous G-word.
LaChena Clark loves being in business. So much so she has started
several companies. She owns two locations of laundry and dry cleaning
service Sudsy Waters, that picks up and delivers. She is also part-owner
of the location in White Plains. Now, her latest venture is Mia's
Bathhouse for Pets, located in Central Harlem.
