The Network Journal's 40 Under Forty
Dynamic Achievers - Winning Battles, Blazing Trails
Nine years after The Network Journal’s 40 Under-Forty Dynamic Achievers list debuted, we are still awed by the breadth of talent that emanates from America’s Black community.
And because it showcases up-and-coming business and professional leaders whose careers and individual achievements inspire and motivate.
Our 40 Under-Forty celebration each June at Columbia University has become a signature part of the New York metro area’s business calendar.
Indeed, in going through the annual exercise of compiling our list, we have discovered some of the country’s most fascinating individuals in the public, private, academic and nonprofit sectors. Including this year’s class, we have brought just 360 of them to the attention of our audience, far fewer than the number of nominations we receive.
As in the past, this year’s class of honorees includes entrepreneurs, business executives, professors, scientists, doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects, filmmakers and government officials.
Given the positions they occupy, as described in the profiles on the pages that follow, one can make an educated guess as to their collective net worth in dollar terms.
Measuring their collective brain power, however, is an impossible task. It’s enough just to know that these are our young men, our young women.
