TNJ proudly presents the 2005 list of 25 Influential Black Women in Business. This year marks the seventh consecutive year that the magazine has published what we popularly call "The 25 List." Each year, TNJ receives more than 100 nominees for this distinguished award. Winners are chosen for their outstanding achievement and influence in the corporate, entrepreneurial, government and not-for-profit arenas, as well as for their service to the African-American community. "Going the Distance" is the theme of this year's salute to 25 Influential Black Women in Business. While the profiles on the pages that follow hardly tell the full story of the journey each of these women has made, they teach us important lessons about how to walk the walk of success and remind us that we are never alone as we walk. The women behind these profiles truly are the elite of their industries and professions. In the wisdom of the universe, their race is merely incidental. But in a world too often disconnected from its universal source, their race matters.
