Anthony Coley
Anthony Coley was appointed by New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine as director of the governor’s Communi-cations Office. Coley served as then Sen. Corzine’s spokesman in Washington, D.C., before joining the governor’s administration in January 2006. He previously was a regional communications director for Sen. John Kerry’s presidential campaign and communications director and chief spokesman for Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia and Congressman Harold Ford of Tennessee. Coley holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morehouse College and a master’s in legislative affairs from George Washington University.
Gary Flowers
Gary Flowers was named CEO and executive director of the Black Lead-ership Forum Inc. He will provide policy analysis, coordinate fund- raising efforts and support the Forum’s mission to promote creative and coordinated Black leadership. From 1997 to 2007, Flowers served as vice president for public policy and national field director for the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr.’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition. He previously served as special assistant to Virginia Governor Lawrence Wilder, a monitor of the 1994 elections in South Africa under the Lawyers’ Com-mittee for Civil Rights Under Law and as a teaching fellow at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
Jerilan Greene
Jerilan Greene was appointed executive vice president for the Change and Employee Engage-ment Practice of public relations giant Daniel J. Edelman Inc. She will be based in Chicago. The division helps clients strengthen their strategy and initiatives implementation and establish stronger management-employee relations. Greene is a former director at Burson-Marsteller and once served as an interim executive director of communications for the U.S. division of a global pharmaceutical company. She also held key positions at global consultants Deloitte Consulting and Watson Wyatt.
Michael A. Battle
Michael A. Battle joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. in their Washington, D.C., office as a partner. A former director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys at the U.S. Department of Justice, Battle will focus on commercial and civil litigation and white-collar criminal cases. He previously worked as a family court judge, a federal public defender, an assistant New York attorney general and an assistant U.S. attorney. He started his career as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society’s Civil Division.
Margot Brodie
Margot Brodie was appointed chief of the General Crimes Unit, Criminal Division, in the United States attorney’s Office, Eastern District of New York. Prior to this appointment Brodie was deputy chief of the same unit and prior to that, an assistant United States Attorney in the Public Integrity Unit. Brodie currently is president of the Association of Black Women Attorneys and a member of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the National Black Prosecutors Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Francis College and a law degree from the University of Pennsyl-vania Law School.
Jessica Ingram-Bellamy
Jessica Ingram-Bellamy joined Better World Advertising, as co-director of its new New York City office. Ingram-Bellamy will be responsible for new business development and the creation and management of client campaigns on the East Coast. She has more than 12 years experience in social welfare, public policy and social marketing. Most recently, she served as director of external affairs at Helene Fuld College of Nursing at North General Hospital. Prior to that, she was a global development consultant at the Office of the Prime Minister of Mozambique. Ingram-Bellamy holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree from Columbia University.
Bill Owen, M.D.
Bill Owen, M.D., was appointed president of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the University’s first Black in that position. Before this appointment, he was chancellor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, which operates the colleges of allied health sciences, dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and biomedical engineering. Dr. Owen previously served as chief scientist at Baxter Healthcare Corp.’s renal division in McGaw Park, Ill. He also worked at Duke University and Harvard Medical School, specializing in dialysis and kidney transplantation.
