Millicent A. Comrie, M.D., M.P.H., FACOG
Millicent A. Comrie, M.D., M.P.H., FACOG, has been appointed director of Women’s Health Program Initiatives at Long Island College Hospital. She continues her roles as attending physician in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at LICH, as director of the LICH Center for Women’s Health and as clinical assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Comrie first joined LICH as a resident in obstetrics and gynecology, and was the hospital’s chief of adolescent gynecology. Prior to her recent appointment, she was in private practice. Comrie earned her medical degree from SUNY Downstate and a master’s in public health in maternal and child health population and family planning from Columbia University School of Public Health.
Jacqueline N. Howell Esq.
Jacqueline N. Howell Esq. is the new general counsel and senior vice president of business development and legal affairs for AllHipHop.com, an Inter-net resource for hip-hop content. Howell will advise and coordinate AllHipHop’s legal affairs while establishing relationships with consumer brand companies seeking to reach the urban/hip-hop marketplace. She will also lead the development of new business in the areas of wireless communications, film and video, e-commerce, and new media. Most recently, Howell was a litigation attorney at Davis & Gilbert L.L.P. Howell received her bachelor of arts degree from Spelman College and her law degree from Georgetown University.
Marva Smalls
Marva Smalls is the new first executive vice president of Global Inclusion Strategy for MTV Networks, a division of Viacom. In this new position, Smalls will drive MTVN’s ongoing efforts to champion a diverse, multicultural and inclusive work force, and to develop the next generation of leaders across its worldwide brands. She was one of the recipients of TNJ’s 25 Influential Black Women in Business award in 2005. Smalls will retain her current responsibilities as executive vice president of public affairs and chief of staff for the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids & Family Group. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Smalls serves on the board of directors of the National Council for Families and Tele-vision, the Children Affected by AIDS Found-ation, South Carolina’s Brookgreen Gardens, New York City’s Northside Center for Child Develop-ment and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Bruce Demps
Bruce Demps was named regional manager of Radio One stations in the Atlanta, Augusta, Ga., and Miami markets. Demps spent the last 10 years with Clear Channel. He started his broadcast sales career at WIVY in Jacksonville in 1981 and worked his way up to the position of vice president and general manager of the WSOL/WJBT/WZAZ cluster. He then relocated to Memphis, where he served as vice president and general manager of WDIA and WHRK. Demps served as market manager of Clear Channel’s Memphis cluster as it grew to seven stations over a three-year period. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.Tangee Gibson
Tangee Gibson was named senior vice president of human resources for Aramark Domestic Food, Hospitality and Facility Services. Aramark is a professional services organization, providing world-class environments, experiences and outcomes for clients and customers in 20 countries. Most recently Gibson served as senior vice president of organization and leadership development for Aramark, where she was responsible for the corporation’s executive leadership institute and talent management strategy. In addition, she led the training and organizational development and staffing organizations and was responsible for the corporate human resources functions. Before that, Gibson was vice president of human resources for Aramark’s higher education business. Gibson is an active board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern Pennsylvania and is active in the Society for Human Resource Management. Gibson received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University.Brenda R. Manuel
Brenda R. Manuel was appointed assistant administrator for the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity at NASA. Manuel will provide executive leadership and advocacy, advising and assisting the administrator on all matters pertaining to diversity and equal opportunity requirements. She previously served as acting deputy assistant administrator for equal opportunity programs and was director of the discrimination complaints division. She has served as a program director and faculty member for the Public Administration Forum, a nonprofit organization specializing in employment law training conferences for federal and public-sector managers, attorneys, and equal employment opportunity and human resources subject matter specialists. Manuel earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Howard University and is a graduate of George Washington University Law Center.
