(107.5 WBLS/1190 WLIB)
New York City
After more than 17 years in consumer marketing and sponsorship, Koren Leah Vaughan still loves to create marketing campaigns and still possesses the same enthusiasm for her work as she did at the beginning of her career. “I really enjoy going to work every day. I love the fast pace and high energy of radio. It’s always a new adventure and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she states.
Vaughan is the director of interactive sales and marketing at 107.5 WBLS-FM, New York City’s No. 1 radio station for rhythm and blues music, and at 1190 WLIB-AM, the city’s first 24-hour gospel music station. Both stations are owned by YMF Media LLC. Vaughan is responsible for creating outdoor campaigns to bring awareness to shows such as The Steve Harvey Morning Show and The Yolanda Adams Morning Show. She started in media as a marketing representative for brewing icon Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. and honed her managerial skills as an interactive content manager for WQHT-HOT 97.1-FM and as an activation manager for the Essence Music Festival.
Vaughan received a bachelor’s degree from the State University of Oswego College and an MBA in media management from Metropolitan College of New York. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her love of new adventures in the work environment is as passionate as her love of travel. She has visited more than 15 countries and several U.S. cities. Aside from travel, she enjoys spending her free time with family and guiding young women as they strive to achieve their professional goals.
Vaughan attributes her own professional success to her faith, strong work ethic and great mentors. “My parents instilled a sense of confidence in me and taught me that if I always push through and work hard I will be rewarded,” she says,
