Senior Associate, Corporate Derivatives Marketing Foreign Exchange Sales
JP Morgan Chase
New York, N.Y.
When Chadwick W. Roberson joined JP Morgan Chase at the age of 21 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana., he wanted to be the best teller he could be. Now, as a New York-based JP Morgan Chase senior associate in Corporate Derivatives Marketing Foreign Exchange Sales, he wants to better understand financial markets and foreign exchange, and provide premium service to clients. “It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in you not having a goal to reach,” he says, quoting former Morehouse College President Benjamin E. Mays, Ph.D.
Roberson has a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Southern University and A&M College and is a FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority)-certified registered representative. Kevin Knobloch, his college professor and mentor, guides his career to this day. “Knobloch was the first person who did not look like me but took care of me. He showed me the ropes, was open, direct and very warm,” says Roberson. “He was the first person to tell me remove all self-doubt.”
Roberson did just that, being the best on every rung of the corporate ladder he climbed. “You want to make sure you’re adding value to your team. Adding value shows that you want to be here, that you want to be part of this mission, this goal and this dream,” he says.
Equally fervent about adding value to his community, he is president of the New York Urban League Young Professionals and a mentor to inner-city males through his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and the Wall Street Alpha G.E.N.T.S. (Gaining Essential Networking Tools for Success) program. He explains his role in the program: [“It’s about] providing them with internships and being a positive male role model in their lives.”
