Being a woman in the corporate world is no longer an unusual
occurrence. According to the United States Department of Labor, an
estimated 60% of American women are employed either part-time or
full-time. As a female businesswoman, it’s crucial to understand ways we can
establish ourselves as distinguished leaders in a work environment
through communication, confidence and knowledge.
Being well networked can do wonders for your career and having a
connection at a company where you are seeking employment can be a good
thing. However, name dropping during your interview, especially when done without any tact, may do you more harm than good.
Earlier this month, the Washington Press Club Foundation honored former
PBS NewsHour correspondent Charlayne Hunter-Gault with a 2015 Lifetime
Achievement Award. She received the prestigious award for her decades-long news career that focused on inequality, civil rights and economic parity in Africa.
