A nonstop reading of poetry, short stories and other works by African-American authors. More than 20 MCC student volunteers, faculty and staff members will participate in the reading in celebration of Black History Month. The event is free and open to the public. Parking available in lot F. The reading is held in conjunction with The Freedom Place Collection exhibit in Monroe Community College's Mercer Gallery. The collection features rarely seen works of African-American artists Benny Andrews, Romare Bearden, Robert Freeman, Alma Thomas and Richard Yarde during the Harlem Renaissance and beyond. Group tours of the exhibit are available by calling (585) 292-2021.
