Brenda Freeman
Brenda Freeman joined VH1 as vice president of consumer marketing. As a member of the team setting brand strategy for VH1 networks, Freeman will oversee all off-channel marketing for the company and will work closely with the integrated marketing, advertising sales, research, press and other groups to maximize consumer awareness of VH1’s networks, platforms and initiatives. Prior to joining VH1, Freeman was vice president of affiliate marketing in the entertainment group at MTV Networks.
Dwayne Redmond
Dwayne Redmond will lead the African American Business Development Group at Merrill Lynch. The group, launched in January 2003, drives new business growth through targeted campaigns within the African-American community. Redmond will also run the African American Virtual Network, working closely with Merrill Lynch branch offices to provide training for African-American financial advisors. Redmond began his career with Merrill Lynch in 2001 as a director in the firm’s Retirement Group. Redmond earned an M.B.A. from Suffolk University in Boston, Mass.
Laurie N. Robinson
Laurie N. Robinson, assistant general counsel at CBS Broadcasting Inc. in New York City, recently founded a not-for-profit organization called Corporate Counsel Women of Color. The high-power organization consists of nearly 700 women attorneys of color who serve as legal counsel for Fortune 1000 companies, Forbes 2000 companies and other entities. Its goals are to promote career advancement and to foster diversity in the legal profession. Robinson is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington.
