Ursula M. Burns
Ursula M. Burns has been appointed to the board of directors of the American Express Co. Burns is senior corporate vice president and president of Business Group Operations for the Xerox Corp. She began her career at Xerox in 1980, where she held a variety of engineering positions. From 1992 to 200, Burns served as vice president and general manager of a series of Xerox businesses, including the Office Color and Facsimile Business, Office Network Copying Business, Work Group Copier Business and Xerox Departmental Business.
Christopher Edley Jr.
Christopher Edley Jr. is the new dean of Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. Edley is the founding co-director of the Civil Rights Project (CRP) at Harvard, where he has been teaching since 1981. The CRP is a multidisciplinary think tank that focuses on racial and ethnic justice, law and policy. Edley, who served as special counsel to former President Bill Clinton and director of the White House Review of Affirmative Action, is also a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
Miguel Centeno
Miguel Centeno is the new chief of marketing for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New York district office. Centeno will be responsible for promoting the agency’s financial assistance, management counseling, business development and minority enterprise development programs to entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout New York City and the Westchester-Mid-Hudson area. Prior to this appointment, Centeno served in the SBA’s New York district office as a marketing and outreach specialist and as the public affairs officer.

Bert N. Mitchell was elected to the board of directors of The Rouse Co. Mitchell is chairman and CEO of Mitchell & Titus LLP, the nation’s largest minority-owned public accounting firm and one of the 100 largest CPA firms in the United States. The firm has offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. Based in Columbia, Md., The Rouse Co. is a leading real estate development and management firm and operates more than 150 retail, office, research and development, and industrial properties in 22 states.
