Founder / President, Optimum Capital Management L.L.C., New York City, Age: 31

Ryan Charles Mack’s first job as a golf caddy resulted in a free ride to the University of Michigan’s Business School, from where he graduated with a degree in finance. He began his career in Detroit as a stock trader, but later saw the need to bring financial planning and quality advisory service to multiple age groups and income
levels, not just to a high net-worth clientele.

He established Optimum Capital Management L.L.C., subsequently earning Tom Joyner’s “Hardest Working Financial Advisor” National Award for his tireless efforts to empower the Black community with the crucial life skills of financial literacy.

“Those principles of hard work, determination, the perpetual pursuit of knowledge, loving all those in my community, hearing the cries of the poor and service to all mankind are just a few of the values that have shaped me,” Mack says. He holds two insurance licenses and a Series 65, which enables him to give investment advice, and is registered in numerous states throughout the country, and reaches multiple demographics from CNN to public housing. “One of my mottoes has been to place service over revenue. Optimum has disproven the myth that you cannot teach benevolently and still be successful,” he says.

While many individuals had a positive influence on his life, his best guidance came from family and close friends, Mack says. “I am a firm believer of faith and purpose. When you are walking in faith, things will begin to happen to enhance your life in every way.”

Quote: "I vow never to profit from ignorance that lies within my community."
