  • Daphne Leroy

Vice President, Marketing and Communications. National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications Inc. New York City. Age: 39

Daphne Leroy has enjoyed 15 successful years in the media and entertainment industry, thanks to her knack for networking, her patience and her commitment to social responsibility. “Establish clear-cut goals, work hard, stay the course, have a positive and likable attitude and you will win,” says the alumna of Bernard M. Baruch College and New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Leroy began her career as an assistant in the Network Sales department at Fox Broadcasting Co.; by the time she left, she was promoted to coordinator of network distribution. She worked at MTV Networks, Time Inc. and Viacom before landing as vice president of marketing and communications at the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. Rather than take sole credit for her successes, she attributes her drive for excellence to her parents and her invaluable lessons in professional development to colleagues who served as mentors. “Imagine a star player without a coach. You can make it on sheer talent, but having someone to guide you through the correct process with invaluable advice can be the difference between exceeding your personal goals and not,” she states.

The daughter of Haitian immigrants, Leroy hopes to parlay her professional experience and contacts into a nonprofit organization that will provide resources to families from Haiti. “I hope to be able to do my part by drawing media and corporate attention to Haiti’s positive contributions; and by using entertainment and educational programming to create opportunities and community solutions,” she says.

Quote: "Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
