Lean Strategy & Business Transformation Director, Supply Chain • Hallmark Cards Inc. • Kansas City, Mo.• Age: 38

Christopher W. McIntyre tries to live by a few simple principles: “Respect for others, courage along life’s journey, unwavering love for my family and reverence to God — I learned these principles as a boy in the scouting program, and from my mother and father. I call on these lessons often in my personal and professional life,” he says.

McIntyre joined Hallmark Cards Inc. in 1992 as a section manager in the firm’s Topeka, Kansas, production center. In 2000, he was promoted to plant manager, and in 2002 became global procurement director. In 2006, he was named to the Business Transformation task force to help develop the necessary strategy and capabilities to secure Hallmark’s future. His work resulted in a strategy to deliver more than $85 million in savings to the company and a 50 percent reduction in product lead time. Today, he is the lean strategy and business transformation director for Supply Chain, impacting Hallmark’s global enterprise. “Success in the corporate world takes conviction in your decisions and courage to stand behind them. I try to live by that principle in my work and care for my family,” McIntyre says.

McIntyre is a team player who gains satisfaction from coaching and mentoring others. “There is nothing in my business life that gives me greater joy than that. I feel a personal responsibility to help individuals to succeed, much like past mentors have done for me,” he says. His love for God keeps him humble. “I keep Him first in my life, whether it is for business or personal matters. I would not be here today if God had not ordained it to be so, and my faith is what guides me in my daily journey,” he says McIntyre is a member of St. James United Methodist Church’s Voices of Praise Choral Ministry and of the executive board of directors for Boy Scouts of America.
