Executive Vice President, Administration, New Line Cinema, New York City

A 12-year veteran at Time Warner Inc.’s New Line Cinema unit, Marsha Haygood oversees implementation of Time Warner’s initiatives at N.L.C. and supervises the unit’s philanthropic ventures, including diversity and community outreach. In addition, the N.L.C. executive vice president for administration manages all facets of administration and human resources, supervising a bicoastal staff of 34 and overseeing the facilities, purchasing, construction and corporate travel divisions for N.L.C. and Fine Line Features.

As demanding as all this surely must be, Haygood, who has a B.A. from Lehman College, New York City, and a Human Resources Training and Development certificate from New York University, makes time for activities in professional organizations. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, New York Women in Film and Television and the New York City Business Travel Association. Not surprisingly, she has won numerous awards, including the prestigious YMCA Black Achievement Award, and has been featured in a number of publications for her contributions to corporate America. A staunch advocate of the notion, “each one teach one,” she acknowledges that she tries hard to live up to that, partly by sharing her knowledge of Black traditions and history with youth and by giving back to her community in other ways.

Haygood contends she could not have gotten this far without the love and support of her family. Her mother taught her first to believe in her own power to do anything, then to apply that power to her goals, she says, while her husband inspires her to take risks. Now Haygood makes sure that she provides the same support and encouragement to her four sons. Indeed, corporate and civic duties notwithstanding, raising “four successful, honorable young men” has been her greatest accomplishment, she says.
