National Director, Supplier Diversity, Time Warner Inc. • Atlanta, Ga.

As national director of supplier diversity at Time Warner Inc., Greta Davis is responsible for expanding business opportunities and strengthening corporate partnerships with minority- and women-owned businesses. She worked her way up the corporate ranks from file clerk at Turner Broadcasting System Inc. “TBS Inc. has contributed tremendously to my current success at Time Warner. During my 13 years at TBS, I was privileged to work in environments of autonomy that allowed me the opportunity to create and manage successful companywide initiatives,” she says.

Davis, who has a B.A. in mass communications from West Georgia College, is committed to minority business development. She has launched a supplier diversity training and education program for Time Warner employees to increase their participation in outreach activities.

A compassionate woman who enjoys quality time with her family, Davis says she benefited from her mother’s strong leadership skills. “She’s not a career woman, but she is indeed a super woman. I have admired her knack to motivate, inspire and persuade others,” she says. Xernona Clayton, founder of the Trumpet Awards at TBS, taught her “the importance of paying attention to detail, managing effective meetings and being on time with everything I do.”

For her commitment to supplier diversity, Davis was named one of Atlanta’s Top Black Women of Influence for 2001 and 2002 by the Atlanta Business League, and, for the past three consecutive years, one of Women Looking Ahead magazine’s “100 Women of Influence.” She was also honored by the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council and by the National Association of Purchasing Managers.

In times of stress, Davis recalls her mother’s motto, “Relax, relate, release. This, too, shall pass.” “Reciting this statement always helps me to come down,” she says. So do listening to jazz, shopping, traveling and “fabulous spa treatments.” “If I had the time and money, I would travel to all the exotic places I’ve always dreamed of visiting,” she says.
