Since Marlie Hall founded her television
production company, Marlie Hall Enterprises L.L. C., in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 2005, she has produced videos for clients in the United States and the Caribbean. She is also a freelance digital journalist with NBC Universal’s theGrio.com; co-host of Profiles, the award-winning celebrity interview show on NYC-TV; and executive producer and host of Island Insider TV, a Caribbean lifestyle and entertainment show.

Skilled in front of and behind the camera, Hall refers to herself as “a one-women production crew.” She began her career in broadcast journalism as an anchor and correspondent for News 12 The Bronx. She was a general assignment reporter for WCBS-TV; hosted her own show, Recipe for Success, and several specials on the Food Network; and was a news anchor and correspondent for Cablevision’s HDNews. In 2008, she hit the road to cover the Obama Presidential Election.

A native New Yorker of Haitian descent, Hall traveled to Haiti in 2004 to film a documentary on that country’s health-care crisis. “I came to truly know where I come from. It was my first time back in Haiti as an adult. It was an unforgettable homecoming that showed me the strength, resilience and cultural richness from which I come,” she says.  Her documentary, Mission to Sassier, earned her a Bronze Telly Award in 2008 for Outstanding News Feature. She returned to Haiti in 2010 to report on the earthquake for NBC Universal. Her nonprofit video company, called Mission to Sassier, continues to focus attention on Haiti’s health-care crisis. 

Hall earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from St. John’s University, where she is an adjunct professor of communications. “It’s amazing to see when a student has a knack for news writing and it’s amazing to be able to cultivate that talent,” she explains. She also has an M.B.A. from Dowling College.
