Sean-Reed McGee likes to quote 19th-century writer Ralph Waldo Emerson, who once said: “Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.”
McGee is senior vice president of sales, responsible for establishing and maintaining client relationships that generate millions of dollars in revenue for The CollegeBound Network, a multiplatform company that provides information for potential college students and their families. He joined the company 15 years ago, when it was Ramholtz Publishing, and soon proved himself to be a formidable salesperson, earning several promotions to roles including sales manager, director of sales and VP of sales. He’s also an entrepreneur with several business ventures.
In addition to his parents and CollegeBound Network CEO Luciano Rammairone, McGee cites naysayers as a catalyst for his success. “The words of those who don’t believe in you can be modeled to drive your spirit to reach new heights,” he says. “They helped to power that (negative) energy into a positive force.”
McGee is active in his community, taking on roles such as president of the Zeta Epsilon Lamda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., board member of the American Cancer Society (Eastern Division) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County, N.J. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Wagner College and a certificate in investment banking from New York University. If time and money were no object, McGee says he would create ways to expand the minds and hearts of young African-Americans. “This is a big world that we live in and it has a lot to offer if you step up and take it,” he says. “Exposure through travel, internships and direct positive reinforcement will change their lives and ours.”
