Age:  39, Senior Director, 360 Consumer Marketing
Turner Broadcasting, Cartoon Network, Atlanta Ga.

In his position as senior director of 360 Consumer Marketing at Cartoon Network, Adrion Porter leads the development and implementation of integrated marketing initiatives for key entertainment brands, such as “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the “Ben 10” franchise. His innovative strategies have garnered award recognition from the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), Promax/Broadcast Designers Association and other organizations.

Prior to joining Cartoon Network in September 2008, Porter held marketing positions of increasing responsibility at Cooperative Marketing Concepts, Fruit of the Loom, Citibank and HBO. “My professional success can be attributed to preparation, perseverance, prayer and a strong network,” says Porter.  He cites three people, in particular, who have been fundamental in his career advancement: Lucinda Desir, the senior marketing executive who hired him at HBO; Debra Langford, vice president of inclusion and business diversity at NBC Universal; and Brenda Freeman, Cartoon Network’s chief marketing officer.

Porter holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Memphis and a master’s in business administration from Vanderbilt University. When he’s not crafting persuasive marketing campaigns for Cartoon Network, Porter volunteers his time as a member of the Atlanta Urban League marketing committee and the NAMIC leadership committee and speaking at various schools and events.

The proud father of a one-year-old, he is focused on continuing to grow professionally in the entertainment and media industries. In the future, he hopes to combine his passion for music with his marketing expertise, a goal for which he has already developed a road map. “I will get there by continuing to excel in my current role, while increasing my network of influencers and remaining diligent and focused,” he says.
